Training in December is Hard...

The Quiet Power of Showing Up in December

December doesn’t get much credit in the fitness world.

It’s usually where we see the routine fall apart. Schedules get chaotic, training gets pushed lower and lower on our list of priorities, and before long, the plan becomes to "just start fresh in January."

But when we do train in December, even if it's less than usual, we are reinforcing something important: That we are the kind of people who show up, even when it's hard.

Showing up in December might feel astronomically harder than any other month, but it holds a special, quiet kind of power:

It shows us that we can practice consistency in a full season of lifeIt reduces the mental friction of restarting after a long breakIt helps us build proof that our habits don’t rely on perfect conditions

It's less about how hard we push, or how much progress we see. Although those things are also fun.

And it's more about staying connected to the routines and habits that help us feel our best, during a time of year when it's easy to not.

So come January, when everyone around us is trying to find their rhythm again, we'll already be one step ahead.

And that quiet consistency we practiced in December becomes the foundation we build on in the new year.
