Is Semi Private Personal Training Right For You?
Have you been thinking about hiring a personal trainer?
Or maybe you are considering joining a group fitness class, but the idea of a big commercial gym feels overwhelming and unwelcoming. You are not quite sure what kind of training is actually the right fit for you.
Semi-private training might be exactly what you are looking for.
Here at Compound Strength and Performance in Bellevue, semi-private training is the foundation of what we do. For people who are new to fitness, returning after a long break, or simply looking for a more personalized and supportive environment, it tends to be one of the most effective and sustainable ways to train.
So what exactly is semi-private training? It sits in the middle ground between one on one personal training and a larger group fitness class. Instead of working exclusively with a coach, you train alongside a small group of people, usually three to four clients per session per coach, while still receiving personalized programming, coaching, and attention. Like personal training, each client follows a program designed specifically for their goals, their fitness level, and any injuries or limitations they are working around. And like group training, you get to show up to a gym full of people who are working toward the same things you are, which creates something really special over time.
Our semi-private training sessions are 60 minutes long and available once, twice, or three times per week depending on your goals and schedule.
Starting a fitness routine for the first time, or returning after a long break, can be incredibly intimidating. Especially when you are not sure what exercises to do, how much weight to use, or whether your form is correct. Walking into a big box gym where everyone around you seems to know exactly what they are doing does not make that any easier.
Semi-private training removes all of that uncertainty.
When you start at Compound, you will not be expected to show up and figure it out on your own. You will receive a program that meets you exactly where you are and is built around your specific goals. Your coach will be there every single session to guide you through each movement, correct your form, and make any adjustments needed. You will never have to wonder if you are doing something wrong, because your coach will always be there to course correct if necessary.
The benefits of this training model go well beyond just learning how to exercise correctly. Every person who trains at Compound follows a customized program designed around their body, their goals, and their lifestyle. Whether you are coming in with no fitness background at all or returning after years away, your program starts wherever you currently are.
Having a coach present at every session also means you learn to move correctly from day one. One of the biggest mistakes new exercisers make is developing poor movement habits early on that eventually lead to injury or feeling stuck. That early foundation makes everything else easier and safer as you progress.
Accountability is another thing that semi-private training does exceptionally well. One of the hardest parts of starting a fitness routine is sticking with it. Training in a semi-private setting with a coach who knows your name and a small group of people who show up alongside you creates a level of accountability that working out alone simply cannot replicate.
And then there is the community. We have seen it happen over and over again: people come in for the training and stay for the people. There is something about sweating alongside a group of supportive, hardworking people that gives us all something we did not know we needed.
It is also worth knowing the difference between our two main offerings. Semi-private training is our most personalized option, with up to four clients per session each following their own individualized program. Small group training is a slightly larger setting of up to eight people all working through the same program together, built around the principles of progressive overload. Both options offer high level coaching, a welcoming environment, and a level of personalization you simply cannot find in a larger gym setting.
Semi-private training tends to be an especially good fit for people who are brand new to fitness, people who have tried working out on their own without seeing results, people who feel intimidated by large commercial gyms, people who want the guidance of a personal trainer but are looking for a more affordable option, people who do better with accountability and community around them, and people who are returning to fitness after an injury, a long break, or a major life change.
