Trust Is Built One Decision At A Time
The Real Foundation of Progress
When we decide we are ready to start working on our health and fitness, we sometimes assume the most important things are:
Finding the perfect program
Following the right diet
Having access to the right equipment
Scheduling time in our day to exercise
Scheduling time in our week to meal prep
And all of these things are important, but if we don't have the right mindset, then none of them matter.
If we are stuck in the mindset that we can't, we probably won't, or we don't deserve... then of course we don't succeed. We don't allow it to happen.
We’ll second-guess our choices, give up at the first setback, or convince ourselves we “just aren’t cut out for this.”
But when we truly believe we can, we will, and fully trust ourselves to follow through with our commitments and succeed in our endeavors, we inevitably build a kind of confidence in ourselves that can't be taken away easily.
Then, just like magic, the same program and the same habits can produce drastically different results.
Confidence fuels consistency.
Consistency build self trust.
And self trust is the foundation of a resilient mindset.
ACTION ITEM
Try this mindset builder!
Ask yourself: Where in my day do I already show up for myself? This can be little things, like: "Every night I meal prep my breakfast for the next day" or "I take my vitamins every morning." Make a list with everything you can think of!
Ask yourself: Where in my day do I often let myself down? Maybe it's "I prioritize other things over my workouts," or "I always say I am going to cook dinner, but usually I end up getting take out." Write these things down on another list.
With list number one: this is your mindset booster! It's the proof you need to remember that you are capable of doing the things you say you are going to do. Look at it whenever you need the reminder.
With list number two: Choose ONE thing to focus on this week. Keep track of how often you follow through and show up for yourself. Before long, you'll be able to move that item to list number one, and start working on the next thing!
